GLENN R. FAUST, M.D. APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF SURGERY AT THE NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION

East Meadow, NY…………Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation and Steven J. Walerstein, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Medical Director, announced the appointment of Glenn R. Faust, MD to the position of Chairman of Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center.

“We are delighted to have been successful in recruiting someone with Glenn Faust’s leadership qualities, expertise in the field of surgery and decades of experience to assist us in meeting our challenges and fulfilling our goals in NUMC’s Surgery Department. His clinical interests in vascular medicine range from carotid artery disease and aneurysm repair to the management of venous diseases, including varicosities.  One of Dr. Faust’s priorities will be to develop a Center of Excellence in Diabetes, Hypertension, and Vascular Medicine,” said Mr. Gianelli.

Dr. Faust had been the Chief in the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Prior to that position, Dr. Faust had served as the Associate Program Director in the General Surgery Residency Program at the North Shore/LIJ Health System.  Dr. Faust graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine and completed his residency in General Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde park, NY.  From 1991 until 1992, Dr. Faust completed his fellowship in Vascular Surgery, at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Certified by the American Board of Surgery with a Certificate of Special Qualifications in Vascular Surgery, Dr. Faust, who is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is active in the New York Cardiovascular Society and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Walerstein added:  “Dr. Faust is very well known as a medical educator and as a leader in   vascular surgery, having served with distinction as Chief in the Division of Vascular Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.   We are fortunate to have recruited someone with his extensive experience who will be instrumental in planning our new Center for Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Medicine.”

Dr. Faust has received numerous awards, including being named Outstanding Surgical Attending and Teacher of the Year by General Surgery Residents at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and being included in the 2001, 2005 and 2006  New York Magazine Best Doctors in New York.  Active in many community organizations and having published extensively, Dr. Faust has served on numerous hospital committees at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Dr. Faust resides in East Hills.
