Warren Zysman Presented at New York’s First K-2 Summit with NYC Public Advocate Letitia James, State Senators Jeffrey Klein and David Valesky and Law Enforcement Leaders on the Dangers of K2 and Solutions for Combating Public Health Crisis

East Meadow, NY…………Warren Zysman, CEO of ACI Chemical Treatment Dependency Centers and a member of the NuHealth/NUMC board of directors, was invited by State Senator and co-leader of the NYS Senate, Jeffrey Klein,  to present in New York’s first K-2 Summit on the dangers of K2 and solutions for combating the public health crisis posed by synthetic drugs. The event, attended by New York City Public Advocate Letitia James and Senator David J. Valesky, deputy leader of the Independent Democratic Conference and hosted by Dr. Charles Barron, Interim Medical Director of Behavioral Health at the NYC Health, was held at Jacobi Medical Center on October 9, 2015. Following a welcome by Senator Klein and his introduction of officials in attendance, Senator Klein proceeded to introduce the guest speakers and the panelists for the first panel, in which Mr. Zysman participated. The first panel is composed of representatives from health and human services agencies who are on the front lines dealing with the physical and psychological consequences associated with designer drugs. The participants included:

Commissioner Mary Travis Bassett, NYC Dept. of Health and Human Services
Dennis Romero, Regional Administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
Joshua Vinciguerra, Director, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, NYS Dept. of Health
Alison Burke, Representating the Greater NY Hospital Association
Robert Kent, Chief Counsel, NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services
Jason Hansman, Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of Adult Services, NYC Dept. of Homeless Services
Warren Zysman, CEO of ACI Chemical Treatment Dependency Centers

Following the discussion, participants had a chance to discuss question and respond to the points made by others. Elected officials could ask follow-up questions and panelists could ask questions of each other.

Mr. Zysman testified on the dangers of K2: “These synthetic drugs can promote auditory and visual hallucination, sedation, euphoria and can lead to addiction, psychosis, aphyxiation, acute arrhythmia and even death. The actions taken by Senator Klein, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James and Senator David J. Valesky, Deputy Leader of the Independent Democratic Conference, are exactly what is needed to cut off access to K2 in NYS and to protect our children.”

The second panel was composed of representatives from agencies responsible for enforcing the criminal and civil penalties associated with the manufacture, distribution or sale of syntheti cannbinoids. The third panel was composed of representatives from offices responsible for prosecuting individuals charged with criminal activites in NYC related to the manufacture, sale and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids.
