John Alexander, MD
Retina and Vitreous Surgery
Dr. Alexander graduated from the Medical University of Lublin in 2011 and completed residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center. He also completed retina and vitreous fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Stanley Berke, MD
Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Berke, MD graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. Dr. Berke then completed a Fellowship in Glaucoma and Cataract surgery at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Richard Gotlib, MD
Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Gotlib, MD earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, City University of New York, where he also received a doctorate in philosophy from the Department of Human Genetics. After graduating, Dr. Gotlib continued his studies through a residency and a fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gotlib is a member of the New York State Ophthalmological Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Robert Lopez, MD
Retina and Vitreous Surgery
Dr. Lopez, MD received his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Biology and Chemistry from the University of California – Irvine.  He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Harvard Medical School in 1982.  Following medical school in Boston, he moved to New York City for ophthalmology residency training at the Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University Medical Center.  After his residency years, Dr. Lopez pursued a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery under the tutelage of Drs. Stanley Chang and Harvey Lincoff, two world-renowned experts in the treatment of retinal detachment, at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center. He is active in the ophthalmology residency training programs at both Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Nassau University Medical Center.
Henry Perry, MD
Cornea Specialist
Dr. Perry, MD earned his undergraduate degree from Hofstra University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Nassau University Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute.  Dr. Perry continued his education with a fellowship training in ophthalmic pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, cornea and external diseases at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and cornea research at the Eye Research Institute of Retina Foundation.
John Pilavas, MD
Cornea Specialist
Dr. Pilavas, MD is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of corneal and anterior segment disorders. After earning his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he went on to Complete an Internal Medicine Internship at Lenox Hill Hospital-Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Serve.  He completed a Fellowship in Cornea at SUNY Stony Brook.
Eric Roberts, MD
Pediatric Specialist
Dr. Roberts, MD attended Boston University School of Medicine where he was a member of the Alpha Omega honor society for outstanding academic achievement and specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Raphael Rosenbaum, MD
Uveitis Specialist
Dr. Rosenbaum, MD earned his bachelor of arts from Yeshiva University in New York. He earned his medical degree at New York Medical College. Dr. Rosenbaum did his residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Rosenbaum went on to do fellowship training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts Eye Research & Surgery Institution.
Caroline Alexander, MD

Dr. Alexander received an MD from Ross University and went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center.
Alexander Hatsis, MD
Specialist
Dr. Hatsis, MD graduated with honors from Fordham University and accepted a full scholarship to the prestigious University of Bologna School of Medicine and Surgery where he graduated first in his class. Following graduation, he completed two years as a general surgery resident before beginning his ophthalmology residency at Nassau County Medical Center.
Samuel Baharestani, MD

Dr Baharestani, MD graduated from medical school at New York University School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency at New York University Medical Center. He completed neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery fellowship at University of Cincinatti.
Carson Schell, MD
Oculoplastic Specialist
Dr. Schell, MD is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist, fellowship-trained in Oculoplastic and Orbital surgery.  He completed his residency and internship at Nassau University Medical. Dr. Schell continued his education with a fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery at University of Calgary.
James Maisel, MD
Retina and Vitreous Surgery
Dr Maisel, MD, FAAO completed medical school at New York Medical College. He completed ophthalmology residency at Nassau University Medical Center and fellowship in vitreous and retinal surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
Peter Maris, MD
Glaucoma and Cornea Specialist
Dr. Maris, MD received his Doctorate of Medicine from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He completed ophthalmology residency at Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University Medical Center. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at University of Tennessee and a cornea fellowship at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island/Nassau University Medical Center.
Joel Weintraub, MD, JD
Resident Education
Dr. Weintraub received an M.D. degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, and a J.D. from Hofstra University. He is currently a Special Professor of Law at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.
Joseph Hallak, OD
Low Vision Specialist
Dr Hallak, OD is an Optometrist with special training and skill in examining eyes for both vision and health problems, and correcting refractive errors by prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as providing low vision care and vision therapy.
