AT THE REQUEST OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC HOSPITALS AND HEALTH SYSTEMS IN WASHINGTON, DC, NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER (NUMC) WILL BE HOSTING THE SOUTH AFRICAN DELEGATION STUDY TOUR

The group is requesting presentations from and to speak with NUMC’s Board members and members of senior staff, as well as a state or local elected official with close ties to NUMC’s system. In addition to the breakfast and presentation, the South African group will also be given a tour of Nassau University Medical Center.

WHAT:

At the request of the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems in Washington, DC, Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) will be hosting the South African Delegation Study Tour.  The group is requesting presentations from and to speak with NUMC’s Board members and members of senior staff, as well as a state or local elected official with close ties to NUMC’s system.  In addition to the breakfast and presentation, the South African group will also be given a tour of Nassau University Medical Center.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

The South African group is particularly interested in learning more about NUMC’s current legal structure and governance of its system, why the model was adopted, benefits of this form of governance, challenges associated with the current model and future goals, why the previous model of governance was changed and the process for the change, relationship/partnership with other providers in the community, the running of hospital boards and referral systems, inter-relationship with academic medicine and the private health sector.
