JODY DIGIACOMO, MD, REJOINS NUMC AS DIRECTOR OF SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE AND ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF TRAUMA

East Meadow, NY………..Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth/NUMC President/CEO, welcomes Jody DiGiacomo, MD, who recently rejoined the Nassau University Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center,  as the Director of Surgical Critical Care and the Associate Director of Trauma. During his previous tenure at NUMC, Dr. DiGiacomo was the Acting Chair of Surgery and Surgery Residency Program Director, Associate Director of Trauma, Associate Director of SICU. He is board certified in surgery, surgical critical care and undersea and hyperbaric medicine. His areas of specialty include general surgery, trauma, critical care, laparoscopy, robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery as well as advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

 

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. DiGiacomo who brings a wealth of clinical experience in trauma and who will play a vital role in providing quality care to the thousands of trauma patients who are transported to NUMC each year. His experience and talent will be a great asset as he works closely with the clinical staff at our trauma center and teaching hospital,” stated Dr. Politi.

 

Prior to rejoining NUMC, Dr. DiGiacomo was the Director of Trauma at the Port Authority Heroes of September 11 Trauma Center at Jersey City Medical Center from 2005 to 2007. He also had a successful solo practice in Monmouth County from 2007 until early 2015. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Philadelphia College of Physicians and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and has authored over fifty publications.  He served on the editorial board of Current Surgery and as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Trauma, Annals of emergency Medicine, Military Medicine and Hospital Physician.  He has received numerous academic and national awards.

 

Dr. Digiacomo grew up outside of Philadelphia and earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his MD from temple University and completed his surgical residency at St. Francis Medical center in Trenton, NJ, followed by a two year fellowship I trauma/surgical critical care at the University of Pennsylvania.
