NUMC RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION FROM LiveOnNY FOR SAVING LIVES THROUGH ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION

East Meadow, New York…..Nassau University Medical Center was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation, by LiveOnNY, in recognition of the hospital’s efforts in saving lives through organ and tissue donation and for the valiant efforts and compassionate care provided to patients whose legacies now live on through organ, eye and/or tissue donation.

Nassau University Medical Center surgical intensive care unit clinical staff, referred in the year 2014, four organ donors to LiveOnNY.  “With the cooperation of the staff and the generosity of the patients’ families, the unfortunate death of these four patients resulted in life-saving transplants for nine other persons and fifteen tissue donors healed hundreds more,” said Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, President/CEO of the NuHealth System/Nassau University Medical Center.

LiveOnNY offered a special thanks to the staff of the surgical intensive care unit, the operating room, social work and hospital administration for helping these patients leave a lasting legacy: “Your cooperation and dedication to saving lives truly made a difference for these recipients and their grateful families.”

There are more than 100,000 persons in the United States waiting for a donated organ.  LiveOnNY saves lives through organ and tissue donation.  For additional information on LiveOnNY, please call 1-800-GIFT-4-NY, www.LiveOnNY.org
