East Meadow, NY……….Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth/NUMC President/CEO announces that Marianne Frieri, MD, PhD, chief of allergy and immunology at the Nassau University Medical Center, has been invited to speak at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology, or AAAAI, national seminar in Texas, along with Amy Klion, MD, chief of the human eosinophil section of the NIAID, NHI. Dr. Frieri will discuss the differential diagnosis and clinical classification along with Dr. Klion


Dr. Politi congratulated Dr. Frieri for “promoting understanding of recent advances in clinical and biomedical science for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic disorders and facilitating the exchange of ideas and information among physicians, medical and graduate students, nurses and allied health and other investigators who are concerned with the treatment of disease, and  improving health by fostering research in all medical disciplines through public policy initiatives and educational programs.”

The AAAAI focuses on the research and treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases. The organization dates back to 1943, when the Society of Asthma and Allied Conditions and the American Association for the Study of Allergy joined to form the American Academy of Allergy. Today, the organization consists of over 6,500 worldwide members in fields ranging from allergists and immunologists, PhD scientists, residents, fellows in many disciplines to healthcare professionals.
 
 
Dr. Frieri completed her Ph.D in Immunology from Chicago Medical school in 1976, M.D. from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, 1978, post-graduate residency training in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Hospital an affiliate of Northwestern University Medical Center in 1980 and completed a fellowship in Allergy Immunology in the NIAID at the NIH in 1983, prior to becoming the Director of Clinical Immunology and Allergy Immunology Training in Nassau University Medical Center.  She is triple board certified in internal medicine, allergy immunology and diagnostic laboratory immunology and Professor of Medicine and Pathology at SUNY Stony Brook, and on the faculty at New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
 
She served on the ACAAI Board of Regents from 1994 until 1997, and on the JCAAI Board of Directors from 2001 until 2005.  She currently serves on the ACAAI committees for women in allergy, women’s health and basic and clinical immunology.  She was selected by ACAAI and American Medical Association for the ACGME RRC, for Allergy Immunology, 2006-2010, and by ACAAI for the US Gloria Advisory Board in 2008-2009.  She was honored with the ACAAI 2006 Distinguished Fellow Award and received Women in Allergy Award in 2002 and from the AAAAI in 2003. Dr. Frieri is past president of the Long Island Allergy and Asthma Society, 1995-97 and currently serves on the Board of Directors and CME committee. She was nominated as President of the American Association of Certified Allergists in November, 2012 and Chair of the Community of Practice Leadership in 2013 for FOCIS.
